At Make a Bear, you can make your own teddy bear since 2020.
It all started in 2020 during the coronavirus lockdown for
Make a Bear. Everyone was sitting at home and barely allowed outside to deal with the pandemic. For many, this was a tremendously difficult and sometimes lonely period.
To connect people and offer encouragement to those who were struggling, the idea for a webshop dedicated to love was conceived. By offering people the opportunity to create their own cuddly toy or, even better, to send each other a personalised teddy bear, it was possible to alleviate some of the loneliness and lack of connection.
When Make a Bear started in 2020, it was the first online shop with the ‘build a bear’ concept in Belgium. Because the concept did catch on, a number of other providers quickly joined. Of all those online sellers, several stopped after the corona. Some did continue, just like Make a Bear.
Although coronavirus is (thankfully) behind us now, Make a Bear is still on a mission to spread love around the world with the help of its cuddly friends. Are you in need of some friendship? All our cuddly toys are sent with wool to fill them, a heart to give your cuddly toy extra love, and a birth certificate.
