ECO-FRIENDLY DELIVERY

At Make a Bear, we do our utmost to get your cuddle to you quickly and ecologically with a CO₂ neutral delivery. This way, we not only create a better world for you. Thanks to a CO₂ neutral delivery, we care for all animals and people.

Due to global warming and the changing climate, more and more animals, and even people, are finding it increasingly difficult. The changing climate causes a lot of heat stress and the disappearance of habitats. We all need to do something about this. Make a Bear also contributes by delivering our cuddles with a CO₂ neutral delivery. Read here all about these deliveries and how we, as a small webshop, are trying to create a better world.

CARBON-NEUTRAL DELIVERY

Maak een Beer is committed to creating a better world for you. We don’t just do this by offering eco-friendly products; we strive to make eco-friendly choices in everything we do. This includes the way we dispatch our parcels.

For orders placed before 5 pm, we aim to hand the order over to our delivery partner on the same day. However, for some products, such as personalised clothing, dispatch may be delayed.

FIRST KILOMETRE

To ensure that the first kilometre of your parcel is carbon-neutral, Maak een Beer always delivers parcels to its shipping partners on foot or by bike. We have deliberately chosen to work with shipping partners who have a collection point close to the centre of Kasterlee, so that we can guarantee a carbon-neutral delivery for the first kilometre.

DELIVERY PARTNERS WITH CARBON-NEUTRAL DELIVERY

When choosing our delivery partners, Maak een Beer also takes into account the climate targets of the parcel delivery companies. Below you will find an overview of the delivery partners we work with and the ways in which these companies ensure carbon-neutral delivery.

EMISSION-FREE DELIVERY WITH BPOST

Deliveries in Belgium are usually handled by Bpost. This national delivery partner already delivers parcels to many locations using electric vehicles, meaning that a significant number of parcels are already delivered via a carbon-neutral service. The company has set itself the target of delivering no less than 85% of all its parcels with zero emissions by 2030 and is therefore continuously investing in the expansion of its electric fleet.

30% LESS EMISSIONS THANKS TO COLLECTION POINTS

Would you like to do your bit for the environment? If so, choose to have your parcel delivered to a parcel locker or collection point in your neighbourhood and collect it on foot or by bike. When you opt for delivery to a collection point, the carbon footprint of the delivery is a full 30% lower than if you had it delivered to your home.

NET ZERO BY 2040 WITH DPD

By 2040 at the latest, DPD will have reduced its CO₂ emissions by as much as 90%. The remaining 10% will be offset through projects that remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. DPD is taking a very thoughtful approach to this. The company’s short- and long-term targets for reducing CO₂ emissions have been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), an organisation that assesses organisations’ plans to ensure they meet their (science-based) targets. DPD is the first global parcel service whose plans have been scrutinised by the SBTi.

SHIPPING CONFIRMATION

As soon as your ‘Make a Bear’ soft toy is ready to be dispatched, you’ll receive a dispatch confirmation and a tracking number in your inbox. Thanks to this tracking number, you can follow your parcel every step of the way as it’s on its way to you. Before you know it, you’ll have your parcel in your hands.

DELIVERY TIME

Wondering how long it will take before you can unwrap your soft toy? Our delivery partners usually ensure a quick delivery time. Your parcel is normally delivered on the first working day after dispatch to your chosen collection point (post office, parcel locker or your address, depending on what you selected when placing your order). Please note, however, that it can sometimes take a little longer. For example, if you live outside Belgium, if there is a strike, or if something has gone wrong with the delivery.

At Maak een Beer, we do our best to track all parcels right through to delivery, but even we can occasionally miss something. If you’re experiencing a long delivery time and your parcel has been stuck in transit for a week, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ll send Bob the leopard to our delivery partner so we can quickly find out what’s going wrong with your new cuddly friend.
